For the first time in its 138-year history, the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show will permit mutts—the Westminster Kennel Club is calling them “all American dogs”—to participate. Until this year, only purebreds were part of the premiere event. Mutts and purebreds will show their skills in the First Masters Agility Championship, which will feature dogs weaving around poles, walking up a plank and springing over jumps on an agility course. The agility competition is Saturday, Feb. 8 at 7 p.m. on Fox Sports 1. The dog show airs live on Monday, Feb. 11 from 8 to 11 p.m. on CNBC and Tuesday, Feb. 12 on the USA Network from 8 to 11 p.m. Also new this year, the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show is opening its doggie door to three new breeds: the Chinook, the Portuguese Podengo Pequeno and the Rat Terrier. Live breed judging videos are available throughout the day on Monday and Tuesday on the Westminster website.
