Pets that bring home the bacon
Based on an article, 10 High-Earning Pets of 2017, published by MoneyTalk News, pets that bring home the bacon, or more like the whole pig, made their pet parents some big bucks in 2017.
Grumpy Cat was first on the list. The sour looking feline has sponsorships and merchandise, including toys, calendars, clothing and more. The cat’s real name is Tardar Sauce and her grumpy appearance comes from an underbite and feline dwarfism. A couple years ago, there was a news report that said Grumpy Cat had made her pet mom almost $100 million, however the human said no. Even 1/100th of that isn’t bad.
And speaking of $1 million, here comes Boo. The puffball has more than 16 million Facebook followers. Boo reportedly may earn his pet parent as much as $1 million a year with product placements and a book deal.
Another Pomeranian named Jiff may have the most Instagramfollowers of any animal – 7.4 million – while having a more than 24 million followers over all social media channels. The MoneyTalk News article doesn’t say how much Jiff makes. However, Forbesmagazine says that an Instagram “influencer” with 7 million followers can earn an average of $150,000 per sponsored post.
Bodhi, a Shiba Inu, goes by the name Menswear Dog because of the outfits he models. He does photo shoots and has sponsored posts on Instagram and Tumblr. A 2014 article in Fast Company magazine said Bodhi was pulling in $15,000 a month.
Manny the Frenchie uses his social media fame to help raise money for charities, as well as keep himself in kibble. His nonprofit, Manny & Friends, fundraises for the ASPCA and recently for hurricane relief efforts.
